Badass Basslines

Hi, my name is Raoul and I like to play the bass.

When I was a little kid, I found it super fascinating how grown-ups could read and write not only prose and poetry but most importantly music. Around the age of eight I would find a shoebox full of old cassettes, mostly old-school hard rock and heavy metal stuff. From that moment it was clear: I was going to be a metalhead. A couple of years with some musical education and semi-fruitful recorder lessons later I decided it was time for new instrument. I met a drummer at school who wanted to start a band and needed a bass player, so I asked my dad what a bass sounded like. He put on "Heaven & Hell" by Black Sabbath to demonstrate it - and it didn't take much consideration to pick it up and join that band.

By now I've been on stage with more than 20 bands and have played on several records. I've played shows across the country and abroad. To get the bigger picture of music, I added vocals, guitar and a tiny bit of keys to my musical arsenal. Most recently I started teaching bass and working as a session bassist.
